VISIONAIR-10 (Miki Yui: mamagoto + Rolf Julius: boiling)
Miki Yui returns to Turin - where she's by now one of the family - to present a performance on the terrace of blank, mamagoto, which will become an installation (see HERE), and will remain open to the public in this form until 17th July. The term is Japanese and refers to a game that children play from time immemorial across the world (in this case, obviously, it refers to Japanese children) that consists in imitating adults' culinary practices: as a matter of fact, the word 'mama' (which belongs to baby talk and is borrowed from the ancient spoken language) means 'food', especially rice, while 'goto' (or 'koto') means 'thing', or 'object'.
Miki Yui's performance will start around 7.30 pm on Thursday 13th May, preceding a brief performance by her friend Rolf Julius, boiling, which - as is often the case with his work - in turn hints at the act of cooking, combining sounds like ingredients in order to create a small extemporaneous opera to perceive (that is, to 'taste') synaesthesically.
