Paolo Piscitelli : Cores mix 1, 2002

Cores mix 1 was first presented as a sound installation at EXIT-01, a live event which took place in Turin on october 4, 2001 at e/static.
«All 91 samples were taken, with a minimum amount of clearing and equalizing and no sound processing, from the sculpture performance I did in Bruxelles during Zou, at the flying cow project, in August from 9 to 13, 2000. In that occasion I worked continuously wrapping about 25 kms. of adhesive tape around seven polystyrene shapes i had previously moulded. As the performance went on, four of the shapes  joined in pairs so that in the end, when my energy was over, the shapes had become five.» (Paolo Piscitelli)

Paolo Piscitelli is a 30 years old Italian artist based in Turin. In order to achieve his own peculiar conception of sculpture he deals with moulding, drawing, video and photo-shooting, always with a performative approach. In Cores mix 1, he works for the first time specifically with sound; this piece should be therefore looked at as an acoustic sculpture. For this particular CD version the artist set a slightly lower equalisation as to recreate the plexiglas box effect on pure sound of the EXIT-01 installation.
Cores mix 1, published in a limited edition of 150 copies - plus 25 numbered and signed by the artist - is the first CD produced by e/static, a space in Turin dedicated to “the present time art” which started its activity in early 1999. Recently, e/static featured a solo show by the renowned German artist Rolf Julius, whereas this year’s program will propose performances and/or shows by Brandon LaBelle, Patrice Carré, Steve Roden and Terry Fox.
